You Sir are a brassica!

A brassica is not a new kind of French lingerie but a name for the broccoli and cauliflower family.

It was when you were a child that the worse a vegetable tastes was inverse to how good it was for you. I have learned to like most vegetables though I cannot make peace with green beans or brussel sprouts. Despite being a grown up I still feel that I should get a medal for voluntarily cooking and eating any vegetable that isn’t a potato chip.

Here is my vegetable bake which is a meal on it’s own:

You need to cook a half a cup of dried lentils in stock in the microwave for 20 minutes. Afterwards steam florets of one broccoli and cauliflower in the microwave. Then microwave a butternut in a Pick ‘n Pay packet in the microwave for 30 min. If you are lazy leave the skin on and scoop out later when cooked! Much easier.

Make a white sauce with real butter and white flour.

First layer the scooped butternut then half-cooked florets then pour over drained lentils all in one dish. Pour over white sauce and cover top with cheddar cheese. Bake in an 180 degree oven for 45 min turning the dish around halfway.

There you have a filling dish or a side dish to Sunday roast chicken.
